The Burning Hand Of Friendship
Episode 3: I Lost My Heart At Pussy Point
A 60’s Rock N Roll Mixx by DJ Sad Tiger
…about the mix presented in our show:
It was recorded back in 2004 @ Poplife @ I/0 w/ my mini disc walkman. It was the 2nd version of a mix I would usually throw down of 60’s freakbeat. The 1st version of this mix was originally given out to 50 of my friends via CDR with a different/variant track listing. All mixes were recorded using vinyl, CDs, and shitty mixer sound fx.
I found an old brit pop mix I made when I was still Djing at The Church @ Groove Jet (1995-96?). I’ll post it up in a few weeks. Listening to it was a complete jump into a TARDIS. It took me back nearly 15 years. Pre-Hipster Miami. The peak of the Alternative/Goth/Industrial/Rave days. It certainly took me back to my Fishboy days when I started DJing because nobody in this town was playing what I wanted to hear …and brit pop was certainly helping my sex life more than the experimental/ambient music I was spinning at raves.
Either way, nostalgia got the best of me and I went on a music video safari…
Here are my cherry picks from my hunt: I present to you my imaginary episode of 120 minutes. 20 brit pop nuggets for my anglophiles. In memory of Fence The Fishboy and WVUM’s British Invasion.
We want our cult TV! If you were a child of the 80’s you may remember this late night show/tv odyssey. If not…follow the wiki link for enlightenment.
For those too lazy to check the link.. Night Flight was a late night soup of music videos, short films, animations, documentaries, leftfield comedy, new wave culture, and Midnight Movies. A fantastic hallucination. A grab bag of 80’s counter culture pop art.
Here is a pseudo episode I reconstructed with you tube clips…
there are some jems in this..

Episode 2 of the Burning Hand Of Friendship launches it’s investigation on the conspiracy of the assassination of Rock N Roll. The first installation focuses on the eradication of The 50’s from our air waves. “They are erasing the nativity of Rock N Roll from the ears of future generations!”
This show is aimed specifically at our local oldies station Majic 102.7 , which has been feeding us mediocre programming for years. The traitors have quietly removed the 1950’s from their playlist, replacing it with the “newer sounds” of the 1970’s. We will not allow this era to fade away, daddy-o!
Hosted By Detective Severino, formerly Cookieheadz the 2nd
